Nextech Declared Finalist in Two Prestigious 2018 Tampa Bay Technology Awards

Nextech and its vice president of engineering, Brian Sobus, have been nominated for Workplace Culture Program of the Year and Technology Leader of the Year in Tampa Bay Tech’s 2018 awards

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nextech Systems, a leading provider of healthcare technology solutions for specialty physician practices, announces it has been named a finalist in two categories in the annual Tampa Bay Tech (TBT) awards. TBT, Florida’s largest and most influential technology association, has honored Nextech executive Brian Sobus, vice president of engineering, as a Technology Leader of the Year finalist and Nextech as a finalist for Best Workplace Culture Program of the Year award.

The Technology Leader of the Year award recognizes a leader who consistently drives change and has made significant impacts within their organization, field and Tampa tech community. Brian Sobus, a finalist for this award, has more than 15 years of technology experience and leads two teams at Nextech to streamline and grow Nextech’s Practice+ Software solution. Sobus has fostered a highly collaborative and constructive environment within these teams. Each member on his team has unique opportunities to lead meetings and work together to accomplish goals. Further, Sobus is actively involved in the local community, currently developing a program to interest Florida youth in math and technology careers.

“Tampa Bay is a growing hub for technology and healthcare companies, alike. As the area continues to expand, I am deeply humbled and honored to be recognized as a leader in this community and field,” said Brian Sobus, Vice President of Engineering, “I’ve loved working with Nextech to expand their practice management (PM) offerings into other areas, and I look forward to continue furthering Nextech’s potential in the healthcare and technology sectors.”

Nextech was also chosen as a finalist in the Workplace Culture Program of the Year award, which acknowledges an organization whose culture is unique, inclusive and ever-evolving and has a demonstrable impact to the business, programs or projects undertaken.

This year, Nextech took their employee’s well-being to the next level by developing the People and Culture department, which prioritizes the employees’ experience within Nextech. Through this, Nextech has continuously driven a culture of innovation across the company, which allows team members to develop into strong leaders for their peers and the technology and healthcare industries. This includes a structured program around their core values (Integrity, Collaboration, Respect, Empowerment, Accountability, Trust & Excellence) known as iCREATE, and new benefits such as paid parental leave for all new parents and paid volunteer time.

“Tampa holds more than a quarter of Florida’s technology businesses and careers. It’s a great honor to have our leadership and organization be named a finalist in these awards knowing that in Tampa we’re working alongside some of the state’s – and the country’s – best technology entities,” said Mike Scarbrough, Nextech president and CEO. “These nominations are a clear testament to the hard work Nextech individuals and teams alike, have put into improving technology, healthcare and the surrounding community this year. We look forward to continuing to innovate and make both Tampa and Nextech one of the best places to live and work.”

The TBT awards are the region’s longest-running technology honors program and is judged by the leaders of the membership-based technology council to recognize the shining stars, both individuals and businesses, within the Central-Florida area.

The awards show announcement of the winner of each award was held on Friday, Nov. 9, at Armature Works near downtown Tampa.
