DOHA: The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) yesterday hosted a delegation of IT companies from Romania in a presentation and networking session. The Romanian delegation comprised of 12 IT companies specialising in fields including cyber-security, process automation, data protection and telecommunications software.

Opening the event, Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, Assistant Undersecretary for Government IT Affairs Sector, noted that the IT sector in Qatar has become one of the driving forces behind Qatar’s extraordinary growth over recent years and that IT is a key component in Qatar’s 2030 Vision.

“We welcome partnerships between businesses and government entities in all sectors of the IT industry, and from all countries and we actively encourage innovation in the new economy through our wide range of government-supported projects,” he added.

In his speech to the forum, the Ambassador of Romania to Qatar, Dr Cristian Tudor, said that both the government and private sectors of Romania were ready to help Qatar continue to build its ICT sector. “Taking into account the complementarities and capabilities of our ICT industries, I am confident that, through such events, successful partnerships can be forged to the mutual benefit of our countries,” he added.
