Meta’s apps have reportedly blocked Apple Intelligence features like writing tools and Genmoji. A report by 9to5Mac has revealed that iOS apps including Facebook, WhatsApp and Threads doesn’t have any Apple Intelligence available on them anymore.

Meanwhile, Meta’s own Llama model powers most AI features like text and image generation in Meta apps.

The apps have been consistently adding new AI features from other in-house AI models as well. Last December, Instagram introduced new AI video editing features powered by Meta’s Movie GenAI model.

Meta AI is also the default search bar on Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. The Mark Zuckerberg-led company also uses public data from these platforms to train their own AI models.

A report last stated that while Apple and Meta were in the middle of discussions about a potential partnership to bring the Llama AI model to Apple Intelligence, the deal fell through due to disagreements over privacy policies.

Meta has a history of conflict with Apple over App Store guidelines and the hardware company’s stringent rules around user data.
