PROSPECT HEIGHTS — BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN (BBG) was found among the top 50 most vibrant gardens in the world in a recent study by Premier Inn. The report used an artificial intelligence (AI) powered colour analysis to rank which gardens around the globe contained the most vivid hues, and BBG landed at number 50 with a vibrancy score of 194 — 60 points off from the garden in first place, Kensington Palace Garden.

Overall, the continent of Europe dominated the study, filling up eight of the top 10 positions for most vibrant gardens. South America, Oceania and Africa also made prominent features on the chart, with Asia and North America consuming fewer positions.

Premier Inn’s method for creating the list started with a compilation of 156 desk-researched popular gardens from around the globe. Then, photos of the selected gardens were gathered using satellite imagery from Google Earth and found images from the gardens’ most vibrant seasons. The photos were then analyzed based on their hue, saturation and brightness using AI software, and a ‘vibrancy’ score was created using a combination of value figures. The vibrancy score allowed the gardens to be ranked from high to low — the highest score being deemed the most vibrant.
