Handcrafted bowls at this event are by Benjamin Lambert and students at Baldwin Wallace University, Nanette Reilly Ceramic Artist, occurred- Screw Factory and Studio Associates.
The first Empty Bowl fundraiser was in 1990, when a high school art teacher in Michigan and his students developed a class project, making ceramic bowls for the event.
The students served the guests a simple meal of soup and bread, and the guests kept the bowl as a reminder of world hunger.
Since then, the concept has developed into Empty Bowls, a fundraising activity that has raised millions of dollars for food banks, soup kitchens, shelters, and other organizations worldwide.
