Apple Watch Could Get Apple Intelligence And A visionOS-Inspired Redesign

Apple is working on a new version of watchOS, the Apple Watch software, that will be announced at WWDC in June. And now a new report claims that we could potentially expect a big design change and some new features.

According to The Verifier, first spotted by MacRumors, Apple is working to make the Apple Watch look more like the Apple Vision Pro in terms of its software.

This would match similar work being done on the iPhone and iPad updates, if the report is accurate.

It’s said that the watchOS update will gain new “elements” similar to that of visionOS, the software that powers the Apple Vision Pro spatial computer. That means that we can look forward to a more glass- and bubble-like interface that will make on-screen components appear to be floating above other elements. Apple is reportedly also working on other ideas.

The report notes that The Verifier doesn’t know for sure when the new redesign will arrive, but given the fact iOS 19 is expected to get a visionOS-like revamp, it seems likely that watchOS 12 will do, too.

The same site also believes that Apple is working to bring Apple Intelligence features to a future Apple Watch Ultra and Apple TV, with the former gaining a new chip that will allow it to run Apple’s new AI features.

That would suggest that existing models won’t get the same features, unfortunately. It’s also said that the non-Ultra Apple Watch will receive the same features “a year later.”
