Convocations
Over 1300 students received their degrees at IIM Kozhikode’s 27th convocation held over two days. On the first day, Prof. Soumitra Dutta, Dean of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford was the chief guest and Radhika Gupta, MD and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund was the guest of honour. On day two, V Narayanan, Chairperson, Indian Space Research Organisation, was the chief guest.

Awards and rankings
Chitkara University’s Stick Buddy, a smart blind stick designed to empower visually-impaired individuals, was declared the winner at the Futurepreneurs Challenge at Startup Mahakumbh. Tula’s Institute came second with Pragati, an AI-powered nurse robot that provides health check-ups. Vignan Pharmacy College was third with Magna Pads, a menstrual care product.
Team Les Visionnaires (Esha Vartak and Ekeesha Gill, second-year Fashion Business students) from Istituto Marangoni Mumbai, won the India Market Edition of Cartier’s Through the Lens competition.
Mumbai-based high-school robotics team Sigma 9692 won the Engineering Inspiration Award at the FIRST Robotics Midwestern Regional Championship held in Chicago, while Aditya Birla World Academy’s robotics team, Binary Bolts, won the FIRST Robotics Competition 10,000 Lakes Regional in Minnesota. Both teams have moved on to the final stages to be held in Houston next week.
K.J. Somaiya School of Engineering hosted a 24-hour Agritech Hackathon to deal with the challenges faced by Indian farmers. Team Stranger Strings from Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology, Mumbai, was the winner.
