TAP Air Portugal (TAP) has become the 10th Star Alliance member to choose Lufthansa Systems’ network planning solution, NetLine/Plan.

NetLine/Plan will enable TAP to maximise profitability across its entire schedule by helping it make intelligent network planning decisions with unmatched speed, accuracy, and transparency.

Mario Cruz, chief commercial and revenue officer of TAP, said: “Forecasting future scenarios with the best accuracy possible is key for us. With NetLine/Plan, we can comprehensively evaluate the network and find the best solutions within different competitive and market contexts.

“It allows us to evaluate new route launches, schedule changes, airline hub optimisations, and partnership changes in different future time frames, and other long-term plans.”

Developed in collaboration with many network airlines worldwide, the network planning tool from the airline IT provider will be delivered as a Software-as-a-Service ( SaaS) solution within Lufthansa Systems’ Global Aviation Cloud (GAC).

Jan-Peter Gaense, head of NetLine at Lufthansa Systems, commented: “We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with TAP and add an important solution to their implemented portfolio of our NetLine and Lido solutions.

“NetLine/Plan will help them by evaluating potential schedule changes in the form of business cases while balancing commercial realities and operational constraints. These business cases include new destinations, frequency and time changes, aircraft up and down-gauges, as well as partnership scenarios with codeshare or alliance partners.”

Lufthansa Systems claim that more than 20 airlines and aircraft manufacturers from around the world currently rely on NetLine/Plan for their network planning business cases.
