The free and open source graphics editor, Krita, is set to receive a big update on Wednesday. In the latest update, the developers have fixed hundreds of bugs and introduced many new features including support for multi-monitor setups and support for more tablet devices.

One of the big features in this update is the ability to view HDR images in HDR on supported hardware. The feature was made possible with the help of Intel but unfortunately, it is only available for users on Windows 10. The ability to edit HDR images has been around for a while now and will remain available on all platforms despite this development.

A handful of the new features in this release include:

  • Improved brush speed performance with vectorization and lock-free programming
  • An improved Colour Palette docker that can be saved in a specific KRA save file
  • Support for the Animation Python API
  • The ability to configure file backups
  • A new colour gamut docker has been added
  • A news widget has been added to the welcome screen so users can stay up to date with new developments
  • The Artistic Colour Selector was cleaned up and gained new features
  • Move tool operations were added to undo history
  • Improved display of memory usage
  • The sharpness option can now be controlled with pressure
  • New blend modes were added to create interesting effects

The update is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux in both 32-bit and 64-bit varieties. Additionally, there’s an AppImage file for those on Linux who was all of the dependencies bundled with the software.

Update: Added official download link.
