Attendees Ready to Spend at Interop New York

Increasing budgets driven by investments in cloud computing, virtualization, network infrastructure, security and mobile technologies

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Interop® today released the results of a pre-show survey that indicates 44 percent of attendees at the upcoming Interop New York intend to increase spending on technology in 2010, signaling a recovery in the business technology industry. The Interop New York 2009 pre-show survey goes on to reveal that 95 percent of pre-registered attendees are active purchasers within their companies, prioritizing areas like cloud computing, virtualization, wireless/mobility, security, and network infrastructure. "As we've anticipated all year, technology is going to be a leader in the economic recovery," said Lenny Heymann, General Manager of Interop, "Our attendees are gearing up to invest in a wide range of technologies, particularly emerging areas such as cloud computing, virtualization, and mobility that will be featured at Interop New York."

The Interop survey polled over 500 pre-registered Interop New York 2009 attendees via email and found the following top line results:

Active Buyer Trends

    --  44 percent of Interop New York attendee IT budgets will increase in
        2010, while only 12 percent will decrease compared with 2009
        --  88 percent of attendees' 2010 IT budgets will increase or remain
            flat compared with 2009

    --  43 percent of Enterprise 2.0 tech budgets among Interop attendees will
        increase for 2010

Active Buyer Profile and Interest Areas

    --  95 percent of Interop attendees are active in the purchase process
    --  71 percent are currently using, planning to use or considering cloud
        computing, up from 59 percent six months ago from the Interop Las Vegas
        2009 pre-show survey
    --  53 percent of attendees indicated that security is a top priority for
        2010, once again ranking as the #1 focus area for projects
    --  47 percent of attendees indicated upgrading network infrastructure as a
        top priority, up from 39 percent a year ago
    --  47 percent of attendees indicated wireless/mobility as a top priority,
        up from 40 percent a year ago

    --  31 percent of Interop attendees indicated virtualization as a top
        priority initiative in the coming year, up from 21 percent a year ago
